This information sheet compares our status quo approach to Lyme disease in dogs to ACVIM recommendations. It sets out a better approach to the disease than using Quant C6 and supports recommendations via the following 2024 study.
Study title: Use of Physiological and Clinical Biomarkers as Indicators of Antibiotic Efficacy against Lyme Borreliosis in Pet Dogs under Field Conditions

Study Takeaways: CRP is elevated in dogs with clinical Lyme Borreliosis. CRP improves when the dog is placed on the appropriate antibiotic. CRP can help determine when antibiotics can be discontinued. In this study, Doxycycline was safely discontinued on Day 7 instead of the standard 30 days. Amoxicillin was effective, but it took 30 days to return normal readings.
